The otherwise beautiful beach

Jakarta's Pal had the chance to escape from the city and spent two nights in Bandar Lampung last week. It's mostly work but I managed to squeeze in a trip or two just to familiarize myself with the Lampung capital.

The beach at Pulau Tangkil, Bandar Lampung
One of which was the trip to the famous Pantai Mutun (Mutun Beach) around 9 km to the south of Bandar Lampung. It's not that far, but because some of the road conditions are not as you expect from a capital city of a province, the trip took a little longer than it should.

There are also no signs guiding us to the beach. You'd expect that there would be at least two for a tourist attraction right, just to let the public know the beach is there. If it weren't for the reliable local driver, me and my colleague would find it difficult to know where the beach was.

Having arrived after paying an entrance fee into the beach area (I still don't get this having to pay to the beach thing honestly), the impression was it's not your Kuta but it's quite peaceful. The still waters suggested there wouldn't be any surfers around trying to hit on big waves. There are some mini boats though.

The boats as we found out are used to take visitors of Mutun beach to the nearby Pulau Tangkil (Tangkil Island). Too bad that the beauty of the beach was overwhelmed by irresponsible trash. I just hope the people of Bandar Lampung realizes its potential and gift of paradise, and be more waste wise to preserve its beauty.
